The two long-time partners at Vandkunsten, Jan Albrechtsen and Pernille Schyum Poulsen, have decided to step down from the partnership as of December 31, 2025. However, they will both continue as senior consultants and will, among other things, see through the ongoing parallel assignment on Refshaleøen.

A new film about Vandkunsten's proposal for Finger Plan 2.0 puts images and words to the most important themes that need to be addressed in a revised Fingerplan: water, transport, nature, housing, and city life.

Vandkunsten has designed the 100 new public housing units at Svanemølleholm in the heart of Copenhagen's Nordhavn, which the housing association VIBO will build.
The project contributes wth 29% of the desired 40% public housing at Svanemølleholm.

The Fingerplan 2.0 competition is an open idea competition in two phases, announced by the Danish Association of Architects and Dreyer's Foundation. Among the 43 visions submitted in the first phase of the competition, 5 vision proposals, including Vandkunsten's, were selected to proceed to the second phase of the competition.

Vandkunsten has won the competition to design Denmark's first newly built women's crisis center. It will be constructed on a centrally located plot in Rønne on Bornholm. The architectural firm has just signed the total consultant contract with the Women's Crisis Center Bornholm, and now the building will be completed in collaboration with the engineers from Steenbergs Tegnestue.

Vandkunsten, together with ABC - Consulting Engineers, has won the ideas competition for the Generationernes Kvartershus in the new district of Favrholm in Hillerød. Hillerød Municipality has now reached an agreement with Copenhagen's largest public housing association, fsb, with Vandkunsten as the lead consultant, to carry out the construction.

We are very happy and proud that the Housing Association AAB has chosen to award the task of renovating the local center in department 55 Vejleåparken to Vandkunsten, DANAKON A/S Consulting Engineers, and KOMMON.

The task involves both renovation of the center, landscaping of the immediate surrounding area of the center, as well as a user process. The existing local center must be demolished down to the foundation, and the new one will be built within the existing foundation, which will be reused.

The local center is an important place for the department - it is here that residents can go to take care of practical matters and gather for events and activities for both large and small groups. In the future, the center should more prominently signal that it is a meeting place for people of many different ages and cultures, and be more inviting to accommodate a variety of initiatives.

We strengthen our close ties to the research and teaching environment when partner Søren Nielsen per 1 March takes up a professorship in the practice of architecture at the Aarhus School of Architecture. In doing so, he follows in the footsteps of Vandkunsten founders Michael Sten Johnsen and Jens Thomas Arnfred.

At a public event in Odense on June 8, 2023, Team Vandkunsten and SLA were announced as the winners of the architectural competition for the development of Odense's inner harbor. Their proposal, Odense Havneby, impressed the judges and will now undergo further refinement to be integrated into a district development plan for the area. The team includes EKJ Rådgivende Ingeniører, Cushman & Wakefield/RED, Linq Trafik, and Mogens A. Morgen, bringing together a range of expertise to ensure a comprehensive and successful implementation of the project.

HAV Eiendom and Oslo Havn have invited Tegnestuen Vandkunsten to continue the work after the parallel assignment.

Pynteneset Eiendom has chosen Vandkunsten's proposal, which will now form the basis for the development of Pynteneset, phase 2.
