At Vandkunsten, we are very happy and proud that the Women’s Crisis Center Bornholm has chosen us as advisors for this project. We look forward to the collaboration and the next steps. It is an important task, where the main focus is on creating a safe environment for a daily life that is fragile and new. We want both for the residents to achieve a secure and quality daily life during a difficult transitional period, and at the same time to create a good and safe working environment for the staff.

The house will be divided into a residential wing, a wing with common rooms and kitchen facilities, and a wing with offices and consultation rooms. This main concept is based on the importance of having both space to be on your own and private, as well as rooms to participate in the community that emerges. Good working conditions for the staff are also a high priority. The crisis center will be built on one level, which, among other things, ensures that all residents have their own access to the garden. A sensory garden will surround the crisis center and will become an asset in the daily work at the Women’s Crisis Center.

Now all the details about the house itself need to be finalized. There will be a particular focus on sound and light, on resource-efficient use of building materials, and on ensuring that there is enough space to be oneself and to cultivate a sense of community.

The house is being built, among other things, thanks to a generous donation of 36.5 million kroner from the A.P. Møller Foundation, and the plan is for the house to be inaugurated in the autumn of 2026.
