Development of Holstebro town
Holstebro
2019 - 2049

A green strategy for the cultural hub

Holstebro has a population of 36 thousand. A 21.000m2 plot near the town centre is liberated as the town hospital will move to new facilities. This is why Holstebro municipality and the Færch Foundation have established Holstebro Development and launched a competition for the future of Holstebro.

Team Vandkunsten won the competition with strategic approaches to improve the connections within Holstebro with the town’s vibrant cultural scene, its surrounding nature, and a diversified housing catalogue.

The freeway divides the town

The town center and Holstebro’s catchment area is currently divided by the freeway which acts like a city wall around the center. Team Vandkunsten has developed strategies to penetrate the wall with landscape elements and by enhancing cultural features.
