Residential building with the country’s lowest climate footprint

Residential building with the country's lowest climate footprint

Thanks to close and good cooperation between the developer Home.Earth, Sjælsø Management and Vandkunsten, it has been possible to create a residential building with a very low CO2 footprint and a reduced climate impact compared to legal requirements and comparable homes. The LCA footprint per m2 is pre-certified at 4.73 kg CO2/m2, which is currently the country’s lowest climate footprint in the weight class, and for a six-story building.

The structure is open blocks, where the courtyards each have their own landscape character with a focus on biodiversity. In interaction with the facades, clad in sawn and untreated pine wood, combined with slate, beautiful reliefs and sensory experiences are created for the residents.

The building is divided into three building blocks with approximately 50 homes in each block, businesses on the ground floor and four common rooms distributed over the three blocks with, among other things, a communal kitchen and laundry. In addition, there is a neighborhood house with a common room, workshop and resident hotel with three small apartments, which can be rented on a daily basis.

Materials

The building has a CO₂ footprint of approximately 4.7 kg CO₂-eq./m²/year, which is over 60% lower than standard requirements. Primarily biogenic materials such as wood are used, for both columns, beams and wooden boxes. The facades are clad in sawn and untreated pine, combined with slate.

Innovative design

The architecture is designed with a combination of modern and functional solutions that optimize light, energy efficiency and well-being. The buildings are DGNB-certified to gold.
