New connections across the train tracks were a central element in the masterplan for Køge Kyst that Vandkunsten Architects has developed. The new bridge has a giant set of steps leading up from the urban plaza at the train station. We have designed the bridge to afford a spatial experience for passersby who can now enjoy the view of central pedestrian streets of Køge. The Køge version of the Spanish Steps face west which allows for a sunny place to wait for a friend or a place to hang out that is not part of the more commercial areas of the town.

Other connections between Old Køge and new coastal districts in the masterplan include a car tunnel that has already been established. An underground plaza towards a small harbour is currently under construction and will go under the train tracks south of the station.
