Gentofte
2015 - 2017
Dignified life with a village feel
The good life in a new village
As far possible from an institutional feel, this socially inclusive and safe village-like complex will be the new physical frame for residents of a number of heavy care institutions and nursing homes gathered in Gentofte.
New facilities for heavy care institutions and nursing homes are designed as a socially inclusive and safe village and based on a strong value-based program.
The village suits the context of single-family houses and rids the institution of an institutionalized feel while it offers new homely and dignified surroundings for residents and staff.
The masterplan for the area includes existing structures and allows construction in stages. New one-storey buildings with direct outdoor access will be crucial for the high-quality everyday life that does not feel ‘institutionalized’ despite the organization of the heavy care units.
